Funny Presentation End Slide Funny Pictures to Make People Laugh
by Adam Noar
Maybe your slide decks look amazing. Maybe you are a PowerPoint pro.
But do you know what will make your presentation stand out even more?
Humor!
Adding humor to your presentation can be a powerful tool. Humor helps our brains relax and can make us feel good about a presentation.
It doesn't matter if you're naturally funny or not. Anyone can easily sprinkle in some humor and personality into their slides.
To give you some ideas, here are five ways to add humor to your PowerPoint presentations.
Note: We are not suggesting adding humor to every presentation you create. Some slide decks are more suited for humor than others … so use discretion. If done poorly, it can be counterproductive.
#1.) Video snippets of a movie that ties into the presentation
If you can find a creative way to tie your presentation into a well-known movie, you've got a clear path to presentation humor.
Once you think of a great movie, all you need to do is find snippets of the best scenes (from places like Youtube) and weave them into your slides.
For example, I once attended an all-day sales summit meeting (for a previous job) and one of the presentations was about "legal compliance for sales reps" … yes, I know YAWN! It was by far the most boring topic of the day, but the presenter found a way to make the presentation stand out by tying the theme of his presentation (legal compliance) around the movie Top Gun.
Now you're probably thinking … how did he do that?
Well if you remember in Top Gun, Tom Cruise (Maverick) is one of the best pilots in the business but he often flies dangerously by pushing the limit and sometimes "breaking the rules". So, the presenter made the theme of his presentation all about how "Not to be like Maverick". Throughout the slide deck, he inserted timely clips from the movie and the audience could not stop laughing.
Creatively linking your presentation to a well-known movie and inserting short video snippets is a great way to add humor to your slides
In addition to showing the top gun clips throughout the presentation, the presenter wore a jumpsuit and some aviators for extra props.
The slideshow was a huge hit!
#2.) Memes
Instead of inserting a boring stock image in your presentation, why not get creative and think about a funny meme that captures your point?
Memes are a great way to add humor to a PowerPoint slide
Memes get their name from the word "meme" which means imitation. A meme is usually, but not limited to, a picture accompanied by text (like the one seen above). Typically, the image is something commonly recognized accompanied by text that was added by a 3rd party.
So where do you get a meme for your presentations? Memegenerator and Imgflip are two good places to start.
#3.) Bitmojis
If you spend time on Facebook, Gmail, Instagram, Snapchat or other countless apps and services, chances are you've come across someone who has been using a personalized cartoon avatar — a Bitmoji.
Create a Bitmoji by downloading the Bitmoji app on your Apple or Android phone
The basic premise of Bitmoji is that you create a cartoon version of yourself that you can insert across a variety of web-based services … Snapchat, text messages, etc. to communicate and express yourself.
But what most people don't realize is that it's a great way to add some fun and personality to your PowerPoint slides.
To create a Bitmoji of yourself, download the Bitmoji app for your smartphone (it's free) and then start designing your own Bitmoji. There are several screens that walk you through how to customize your avatar by choosing a hairstyle, eye color, nose shape, body type, clothing, and much more. Then enable the Bitmoji keyboard on your phone. You will have access to a range of Bitmoji stickers.
Using the Bitmoji app, select the sticker you want and "Save to Photos." From your camera roll, you can send the photo via Airdrop, email as an attachment, upload to Facebook, download as a PDF, etc.
You can use Bitmojis to create an interesting "about me" slide or any slide where you want to show some personality
#4.) Silly Acronyms
Inserting humorous acronyms into your PowerPoint will surely get your audience to smile. There are a few ways to go about this.
Option #1 – The funny acronym name – Use a funny word to use for your acronym. Not much more to it.
Using humorous acronyms like the one above from Jo McRell will add personality to your slides
Option #2 – The impossible to remember acronym – This acronym actually contains the necessary information but assumes that the audience can remember many jumbled letters.
This slide humor is especially effective if you attempt to pronounce the acronym in your presentation. It might even be fun to get your audience to try and pronounce it too!
#5.) Animated GIFs
We've talked about animated GIFs a bunch here at Presentation Panda.
GIFS (pronounced like JIF peanut butter) stands for Graphics Interchange Format.
Embedding GIFs into your PowerPoint presentations is a great way to spruce up your own humor and convey it in a way where everyone can understand – not just those who share your weird sense of humor.
Conclusion
We've all been there: In the audience at a dry pitch event or witnessing a lackluster presentation in a work meeting and counting the minutes until you can stop pretending to listen.
It's alarming how common the expectation is for a presentation to be boring, especially when there are simple and concrete tools you can use to be engaging and memorable. So, let's scrap the dusty PowerPoint presentations and shake things up! Adding humor to your PowerPoint will help others understand what you're trying to get at. It will also lighten the mood and make you appear more approachable.
